2022 WSOP Day 4: Scott Seiver & Brad Ruben Win Bracelet #4

June 3 was filled with action from start to finish at the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) with two more bracelets awarded, Day 2 of Event #6: $25,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold’em Championship, and two record-breaking Day 1s.

Seiver Makes it Four, Wins First NLHE Bracelet Since 2008

Scott Seiver was the second one to join the four-time bracelet club this year after David Peters did so yesterday.

A star-studded final table returned for the final table of Event #3: $2,500 Freezeout in the hunt for WSOP glory and of course the $320,059 first-place prize. Seiver topped the leaderboard when the dust settled after leaving Aditya Agarwal, Chris Hunichen, Nick Schulman, and Sergio Aido behind him.

Brad Ruben Wins Fourth Bracelet For a Higher Cause

Brad Ruben made an impressive run to WSOP fame over the past 2 years. He only won his first bracelet in August 2020, but he just joined Seiver and Peters winning an impressive fourth bracelet after beating defending champion Jaswinder Lilly in Event #4: $1,500 Dealer’s Choice.

This time around, however, it wasn’t about the money, the bracelet, or WSOP glory. Ruben was competing for a higher cause.

Ruben proudly wore the shirt of a charitable organization named Shields & Stripes, an organization aiming to help veterans. Even after defeating defending champion Lally to win his fourth WSOP bracelet, Ruben’s focus was still on those the charity supports.

“This one is very, very special. I kind of feel like this one is a little bigger than me,” Ruben said following his victory. “I wore this shirt. It’s a charity called Shields & Stripes. They help vets. They help first responders and police officers who have injuries that aren’t really seen. I honestly feel like this is bigger than me. I’m representing them. I’m donating one percent of my winnings but also, I’m trying to get the word out about organizations like them and also maybe spread the word on maybe other poker players donating to charities.”

Smith, Sammartino, Rabichow, and Vogelsang to Battle for Maiden Bracelet in $25,000 Heads-Up Championship

Only four players out of 64 remain in Event #6: $25,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold’em Championship. Dan Smith will be facing Italian pro Dario Sammartino, while Kevin Rabichow will be pitted against German pro Christoph Vogelsang on the other side of the bracket. The winner of each contest will play heads-up in the final match for the bracelet and $509,717 top prize.

Although eyes are on the lion’s share portion of the $1,512,000 prize pool, each player has secured at least $193,537, with a prize of $315,029 going to the eventual runner-up. A maiden bracelet will soon be won, as all of the remaining contenders have yet to secure a piece of the coveted gold hardware, despite countless impressive results from each of the quartet.

The other four players that made it into the money are Sean Winter, Jonathan Jaffe, Dylan DeStefano, and three-time bracelet winner Chance Kornuth. They all took home $75,045.

Almost 4,000 Join the $500 Housewarming Event

A massive field of 3,913 players filled the Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas for Day 1b of Event #5: $500 The Housewarming No-Limit Hold’em. By the end of the day only 162 found a bag to advance to Day 2.

Gianluca Pace (4,085,000) from Encinitas, California finished with the biggest stack in the room after 22 levels of play. Others who bagged big tonight include New York poker pro Will Failla (3,700,000) with a late-night surge, Yavine Brewer (3,700,000), Justin Lapka (3,000,000), Spencer Champlin (2,910,000), Joao Simao (1,385,000) and Ashley Frank (2,300,000).

Today’s field generated a massive prize pool of $1,643,460. That pushes the overall prize pool from days 1a and 1b to $3,060,120. If this pace of entries continues over the weekend, as expected, the tournament will smash the $5,000,000 guarantee. The 164 players who made it through the day and will join the 147 players who advanced from Day 1a. Players who did not find a bag tonight will have two more opportunities on Day 1c and 1d. Surviving players from all flights will return for Day 2 at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 6.

Record-Breaking Turnout For $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo

The field in Event #7: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better did not disappoint. When registration closed it showed a total of 1,067 entries which surpassed the old record of 1,036 from 2014. By the end of Day 1 of the 3-day event, only 425 participants found a bag to continue their journey to Day 2.

A record-breaking field also meant a record-breaking prize pool, as the event generated $1,451,154, with 164 places paid at the end of the ride. Just a few of the star-studded field to advance to Day 2 with big stacks were Yehuda Buchalter (261,500), Carol Fuchs (166,500), Phil Hellmuth (100,500), and Shaun Deeb (73,000). Benny Glaser also barely escaped elimination but after he managed to climb his way up amongst the chip leaders to bag (158,000).

The remaining players will return Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas to continue on their quest for the coveted gold bracelet.
